NEW! Genetic test for lactose intolerance

We are pleased to inform you that from 22.11.2017 Avicena Laboratory began to work a new analysis:

* Method: PCR-reverse hybridization

The test identifies two polymorphisms located at introns 9 (C/T 13910) and 13 (G/A 22018) of the MCM6 gene, which are associated with persistence of lactase activity in adults and children over 5 years of age.

* About the test:

People with lactose intolerance are unable to fully digest lactose in the milk.

The reason for this is a deficiency of the enzyme lactase - an enzyme that is secreted into the small intestine. Usually, the lactose in the small intestine breaks down into two simple sugars - glucose and galactose. In the case of lactase deficiency, lactose crosses the colon unburied, there it reacts with the normally present bacterial flora and causes symptoms. People with this deficiency, 30 minutes to 2 hours after the intake of dairy products, feel bloating and discomfort in the stomach, poorly defined pain in the stomach, gasses, diarrhea and other symptoms like persistent fatigue, poor concentration, headache, etc. The intensity of the symptoms depends on the amount of milk product that has been taken.

* Price: 2.690 MKD.

* Required sample: minimum 1 ml EDTA or citrated blood
